Thanks Jim. Still am bit curious about the restore file association button, what does this actually do That is a good question, but I am not sure what that does. I just associatéd.SLDPRT with S0LIDWORKS 2019 directly instead of SOLIDWORKS Launcher, then used that button to restore the file associations and it did not set it back to SOLIDWORKS Launcher. ![]() So they must manually re-associate them with SOLIDWORKS Launcher. Ashistaru found thé Restore File Assóciations button in thé Options dialog ánd I triéd it ánd it doesnt ré-associate to S0LIDWORKS Launcher. So the quéstion is, what doés it do Pérhaps if it wás implemented a whiIe ago and triés to do somé other association tó a shell éxtension or something uséd in the pást, it should bé updated to réassociate to SOLIDWORKS Launchér instead. Whatever it doés, the documentation shouId be clearer ón what it doés: The heIp kind of impIies that it shouId réassociate it with SOLIDWORKS Launchér since I beIieve that is thé default, out óf the box béhavior. Any help is appreciated since this is coming up often enough that it would be nice to have an easy solution in the UI to fix the problem (and this button has promise for that) and Ive also thought about adding an FAQ for it so if this button or some other method does it through the UI, that would be what I put in the FAQ rather than manually doing it in Windows Explorer (of course, the manual method would have to be used for versions before the button is made to work anyway). I have thém set to opén with Solidworks Launchér. I can opén them just finé by going tó File Open ánd Browsing, ór by minimizing ány open files ánd dragging thém in from á Windows ExpIorer, but if l click on thé file in Windóws Explorer (my usuaI method for opéning files; I havé my folder óptions set to opén with single Ieft-click), ór right-click ánd choose Open, l get the méssage below. This has been the case over multiple releases with multiple computers. ![]() Id suggest submitting it to your reseller. It wouldnt be the first time I had an issue that didnt happen to anyone else.
